Bharatanatyam, studied deeply
Tradition • Science • Poetry
Four decades of practice, research and teaching — a centre where classical technique meets Nāṭyaśāstra, philosophy and embodied cognition.
Our mission
To teach Bharatanatyam as a complete discipline — a craft of the body, a literature of expression, and a field of living inquiry.
For over four decades Padmini Ravi has trained more than 500 dancers across the world, holding to the belief that the classical form grows stronger when it is questioned, researched and lived. The centre brings together technique, abhinaya, śāstra, philosophy and the science of embodied learning.

What we study
Classical Technique
Adavus, araimandi and the architecture of rhythm, built patiently from the ground up.
Abhinaya
Rasa and bhāva — the disciplined craft of expression through eyes, hands and breath.
Nāṭyaśāstra
Reading the source texts, and returning theory to the body where it belongs.
Embodied Cognition
What contemporary science tells us about movement, memory, attention and learning.

From our students
In their words
“Aunty’s classes offer a structured yet flexible environment that builds character and confidence.”
“Padmini aunty completely transformed my dance experience. She ensures that each student gets perfect form while also emphasizing that dance is not just a physical art form but is a spiritual art form. She helped me understand that dance is about feeling what you’re showing rather than just memorizing the steps. She is a very patient teacher and gives her all into training each student.”
“Even as senior professional dancers we feel stuck and are constrained by our own thinking. Padmini Aunties classes offer different perspectives in movement vocabulary and choreography. Her in-depth knowledge of the craft helps you dive deeper into your own presentation and progress your own learning of the form.”
“Padmini Aunty is much more than a dance teacher to me—she is my second mother. She has taught me far more than Bharatanatyam; she has taught me devotion, discipline, bhava, spirituality, and the strength to become a better human being, both mentally and physically. She has played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. What makes her truly special is that she has never limited our learning—she wholeheartedly encourages us to explore other dance forms and believes that true artistry comes from creativity, not boundaries. Her classes are lessons for life, not just dance.”
“Padmini Aunty/ Padmini ji teaches like someone still discovering the form herself — restless, precise, unafraid to break from convention. Her music compositions for dance reveal a rare musical sensibility, and her ongoing research into dance, Upanishads and neuroscience gives her teaching an unusual depth. So every class carries both rigour and discovery. I've watched her work with genuine admiration.”
